This time, the topic we present is related to cases of loss of citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AR). Taking into account the provisions of the Convention “On the Reduction of Statelessness” dated August 30, 1961, the following are considered grounds for the loss of AR citizenship:
- Voluntary acquisition of another state’s citizenship by a citizen of AR;
- Voluntary service of a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the state or municipal bodies of a foreign state, or in the armed forces or other armed units;
- AR citizen’s behavior seriously harming the security of the state;
- Deliberate falsification of information necessary for citizenship or submission of a false document by a person who has acquired AR citizenship.
The issue of loss of AR citizenship is decided by the court, taking into account the limitations specified in the second and third parts of Article 17 of the Law “On AR Citizenship”.
